USPTA Developmental Coach
The USPTA Developmental Coach category is designed for people who may already be teaching tennis – as high school coaches, at recreational facilities or in other part-time situations – but who are not immediate candidates for careers as full-time teaching professionals. To become a Developmental Coach, applicants will learn the basic standards of tennis teaching during workshops led by the USTA.
USPTA sets the standard for the industry with its professional-level certification. Coaches working deep in the grassroots will learn a great deal from the experience of USPTA Professionals. These coaches then can have a stronger influence on players and a more positive effect on the whole industry.
To become a Developmental Coach, a person need only to attend a USTA Recreational Coach Workshop. By completing the workshop, a person proves his or her commitment to tennis and earns the opportunity to become a USPTA Developmental Coach – without attending another workshop.
For a list of USTA Recreational Workshops, please click here. For a limited time, USPTA is offering a special introductory rate for this membership category, which may be as much as a $60 discount off regular membership rates.
If you have already attended a USTA Recreational Workshop, please click here for a Developmental Coach application. USTA Recreational Coach Workshops are noted in red.
